What are the baby’s first foods?
Parents ask at what age their babies can start eating solid foods.
Babies start eating solids from 4 months to 6 months.
They are divided into three stages.
-Stage 1: Purees (4 to 6 months)
Stage 3 Soft chewable chunks (10 to 12 months)
Stage 1 –Very thin consistency smooth purees with no chunks
Single ingredient foods
May be store bought in jars or homemade.
Pumpkin Bananas
Applesauce Grains such as quinoa, barley,
Oatmeal oats, wheat and rice
Avocado Green beans
Peaches Sweet potatoes
Pureed meats, such
As chicken and turkey
Stage 2
Slightly thicker consistency than stage 1 foods pureed with a bit more texture.
May be store bought or home made
Typically food combinations like sweet potatoes and chicken dinner.
Foods to offer
Yellow squash -Asparagus
-Cottage cheese -Egg yolks
-Blue berries -Cheese
-Chickpeas -black beans
-Mango -Zucchini
Beets -Almond butter
Stage 3
-Thick blended foods with chewable chunks or small cut up pieces of easily chewed table foods
-Almost anything goes as long as it cut up in small pieces or cooked until it’s very soft to make it to chew. It maybe store bought in jars or home-made
